🇰🇷 Korean Conversation & Connections — Meet Our Group!

Wed, Oct 7, 11:00 PM
From Korean Learners Connect NYC 🇰🇷

안녕하세요! 👋 Join us for the first **Korean Learners Connect NYC** gathering-a relaxed evening for adult Korean learners to practice speaking, meet other learners, and make new connections in NYC. We are an existing small group of adult Korean learners, and we're excited to meet a few new people who share our interest in Korean language and culture. ### What we'll do We'll start with casual introductions and some easy Korean conversation, followed by guided speaking activities designed to help everyone participate comfortably. There will also be time to chat, get to know one another, and learn more about our small-group Korean classes and community. No pressure and no need for perfect Korean—mistakes are part of learning! ### Korean level This gathering is best for learners who already have **some basic Korean experience**. You should be able to: • Read Hangul (한글) • Understand common Korean expressions • Know some basic grammar and vocabulary • Make or understand simple Korean sentences You **do not need to be conversational or fluent**. ### Who you'll meet Our community includes adult Korean learners from different professional and cultural backgrounds who want to improve their Korean while meeting interesting people along the way. The gathering is hosted by Angela sunsaengnim, a native Korean-speaking teacher with a master’s degree and professional experience teaching adult learners at a well-established NYC language institute. ### 📍 Location We'll meet at a **beautiful, spacious, and secure private venue in Midtown.** To keep the gathering comfortable and our venue private, the exact location will be shared with confirmed participants. ### Before attending Because we keep our gatherings small, I'd love to get to know new members briefly before their first visit. After you RSVP, I'll reach out with a few questions about your Korean-learning background. For those interested in joining one of our regular learning groups, we can also arrange a **casual 3-5 minute Zoom introduction** to talk about your goals and find the group that best matches your level. It's not a test—it's simply a chance for us to get to know each other before you join us. **Space is intentionally limited for our first gathering.** Come practice some Korean, meet new people, and see if **Korean Learners Connect NYC** feels like your kind of community. **같이 한국어로 이야기해요!**

Open Source System Administration Study Group

Open Source System Administration Study Group

Sun, Oct 11, 6:00 PM
From Hack Manhattan
4.7

This group will learn about system administration topics with hands-on collaborative learning on a homelab setup of four Dell servers. A description of this session's plan in down below. We’ll deploy components like LDAP(authentication), Ansible (Infrastructure as Code), NextCloud (file storage), OpenStack (Cloud computing), OpenTofu (IaC Terraform fork), containerization and other open source software. We also intend to explore clustering, certainly high-availability and possibly compute clustering. We've setup the hardware, installed the OS, and established procedures and documentation standards. Now we're starting to work in small groups or individually on projects. An under-construction list of project ideas is at https://wiki.hackmanhattan.com/Project_Ideas. We have room for a few new people. Sign up to this event, come and do the exercise, and you're in. Join the Hack Manhattan Discord and say hello. DM me there with your email address so I can sign you up for a wiki account. Please bring a laptop if you can. We'll have a limited number of machines available you can use.
