trashscapes: a noticing (and photo) walk

trashscapes: a noticing (and photo) walk

Sat, Oct 17, 3:00 PM
From trashscapes: noticing walks

**LOOK DOWN MORE!** A casual walk through the East Village for anyone who wants to slow down, look more carefully at what's around them, and capture what they find. On this walk, we'll move slowly through the neighborhood looking for things worth pausing at and then figuring out how to capture them. I suggest a phone or camera, but feel free to bring a sketchbook or whatever you prefer. Any amount (including 0) of art experience is welcome. :) **this event is pay-what-you-want. the suggested price is $10** **only want to pay $5? use promo code "five".** **only want to pay $1? use promo code "one"** --- This walk is inspired by trashscapes—an ongoing photography project that started with a simple habit: noticing the accidental compositions of debris and found matter on NYC streets. Over a decade of daily walks, the habit became an archive of what gets left behind. I'm drawn to the way found matter interplays with the city's infrastructure—using it as framing, finding balance in color and form, and making the incidental feel composed.

The Late Bloomers Collective: Designing Your Career Blueprint

The Late Bloomers Collective: Designing Your Career Blueprint

Thu, Oct 8, 11:00 PM
From The Late Bloomers Collective

Imagine a room where you don't have to explain why you work the way you work — you just do. The Late Bloomers Collective is that room: a community for neurodivergent women and nonbinary folks to stop performing and start building careers that work with your brain instead of against it. You already know how to survive rooms that weren't built for you. Come to one that was — a place where we learn from each other's successes, sharing the one hack that's working for you so you leave with five more. This isn't therapy. It's professional development that fits how your brain works. What to expect: * Small-group conversations about what you're working on and what's getting in your way * A rapid-fire round of real hacks from real people * A hands-on art and visioning exercise around building a professional environment that's tailored to you * Light bites and drinks to keep you going This is for everyone who got the memo late that "just try harder" was never the answer, and isn't interested in pretending otherwise. Come as you are — you don't need to translate yourself here. RSVP here: https://luma.com/g8v81wnd RSVP on Meetup to save the date, but please claim your Pay-What-You-Want ticket on Luma to reserve your spot!
