In honor of Halloween, our theme for October is GOOSEBUMPS 👻 The moments that made your skin prickle. Fear, awe, intuition, dread, wonder. Yoga for Global Majority (BIPOC)

Yoga for Global Majority (BIPOC)

Sun, Oct 11, 8:00 AM
From Decolonising Yoga Community BCN

**Yoga for folks of the Global Majority - all levels, body types, and backgrounds welcome. Bring a towel or a mat and flow with us.** Join us on every second Sunday of each month for a yoga practice for Black, Indigenous and People of the Global Majority to reconnect with yoga as the full philosophical and spiritual system it was always meant to be and not the whitewashed version sold back to us. We'll draw on yoga's deeper teachings (breath, meditation, the yamas and niyamas) as tools for collective healing, in a space where no one needs to explain or justify their presence. Come as you are, whatever your body and history bring into the room. All levels welcome. No prior practice, flexibility, or "yoga body" required. After practice, you’re invited to grab tea/coffee/cake + hang out, talk, connect, build friendships and more. The inspiration to connect beyond the mat comes from the beautiful Yoga Community Project created by Matti in London. If you’re also longing for community here, come be part of this. This practice is donation based, on a sliding scale from €5-€10. You may donate via Bizum, bank transfer or in cash after the practice. Due to systems of oppression, we find ourselves financially in different places in our lives. When making a donation, we encourage you to reflect on the privileges or lack of privileges you have and consider the opportunities or lack of opportunities that society, systems, policies, and structures have afforded you based on your caste, race, gender identity, class, sexual orientation, and body ability. Location: Ciutadella Park, [Plaça de Sonia Rescalvo Zafra](https://maps.app.goo.gl/BBpDX9rEEcUn2num6?g_st=ac) ✨ As we can only offer 15 spots, places are limited; if your plans change, kindly cancel your registration so someone else can take your place. **Accessibility** • The practice area is located in the park. The entrance to the practice has eight steps • Wooden surface (may be harder for the body – please bring what you need for comfort, for example a towel) • No added scents or incense • Public toilet at \~250m and accessible toilets • Outdoors – please dress for the weather **What to bring** • Blanket, mat or towel (anything non‑slippery) • Small towel/cushion to support sitting bones, knees or head • Sun/mosquito protection/Warm layers for cold seasons • Bottle of water • Anything else that supports your practice We hope to see you there!

Yoga for Activists

Yoga for Activists

Sun, Oct 18, 8:00 AM
From Decolonising Yoga Community BCN

**Yoga for activists - a space to ground and recharge, all levels, body types, and backgrounds welcome. Bring a mat and flow with us.** Join us on the third Sunday of each month for a yoga practice for activists, organisers, healers, careworkers, and anyone doing the exhausting work of trying to change things. Here's a chance to actually rest inside your body, not just push through it. This isn't yoga as a break from the movement; it's yoga as part of it, rooted in yoga philosophy's original threads of discipline, non-harm and liberation. With space for quiet reflection or exchange afterward. After practice, you’re invited to grab tea/coffee/cake + hang out, talk, connect, build friendships and more. The inspiration to connect beyond the mat comes from the beautiful Yoga Community Project created by Matti in London – if you’re also longing for community here, come be part of this. Backstory Talks: The Hidden Climate Footprint of Your Everyday Life

Backstory Talks: The Hidden Climate Footprint of Your Everyday Life

Fri, Oct 16, 4:00 PM
From Backstory English Bookshop - Events
4.7

We rarely think about our carbon footprint before 9am — the shower, the coffee, the commute, the scroll. But an ordinary day is full of small, invisible choices that add up to something much bigger. In this talk, Cristina McLauchlan walks us hour by hour through a typical day in Barcelona — from waking to sleeping — uncovering the climate impact hidden inside our everyday routines. Drawing on her background in wellness and yoga philosophy, she reframes climate awareness not as guilt or overwhelm, but as presence: the simple practice of noticing what we usually sleep through. Expect real, relatable moments (yes, your shower length counts), a few surprising stats, and practical, doable shifts — no eco-anxiety, no lectures, just an honest look at one day. Part of Barcelona Climate Week 2026. Discussion and Q&A to follow. **About the host:** Cristina McLauchlan is a Barcelona-based events and wellness professional with 15+ years of international experience spanning conservation, sustainability, and human connection. She has worked with Plastic Oceans, contributing to campaigns tackling ocean plastic pollution, and represented these issues on the global stage at the UN Ocean Conference. She has also facilitated campaigns addressing the fashion industry's environmental footprint, working at the intersection of consumer behaviour and climate impact.
