SF Board Gaymers Meetup (in Dogpatch)

SF Board Gaymers Meetup (in Dogpatch)

Sat, Oct 10, 8:00 PM
From SF Board Gaymers
4.9

\*\*\* We are returning to our regular 2nd Saturday schedule \*\*\* All genders and sexualities are welcome at our meetup; we are an inclusive community. As we have been for a while lately, we will be meeting in San Francisco at Dogpatch Games in - surprise surprise - Dogpatch. Dogpatch Games is very close to a MUNI stop. They have a large game library we can use but feel free to bring a game if there is something you particularly want to play. We have a well ventilated garage space, some side walk tables, and some indoor tables reserved for our group. There will be a $15 after tax fee for the 5 hour window regardless of when you show up, which is a discount from their normal rate if you are there for over 3 hours. After the event is officially over at 6PM you can keep hanging out / playing games if you like at the store's standard hourly rate. Some of us usually get dinner afterwards. Be there or be square!

Let's Play "The Incident at Galley House"

Sat, Oct 31, 7:30 PM
From Video Game Book Club - East Bay
4.8

For this month's game we are playing the mystery, horror, puzzle game, "**The Incident at Galley House**." From the developer: *In 1936, something terrible happened at Galley House. Decades later, with a strange contraption that reveals echoes of the past, you must uncover the truth behind this grisly mystery. A new puzzle from the creators of The Roottrees are Dead.* It is available for Linux, macOS, and Windows. Play through it this month and we will discuss it on **October 31st**! Play through as much as you can and be prepared to be *spooked* at the meeting. :) p.s. [Here](https://discord.gg/TYQmS3GgBK) is a link to our **Discord**, pop in to meet folks ahead of the meetup.

SF Tech Week: Building Your Discord Server Through Every Stage of Game Dev

SF Tech Week: Building Your Discord Server Through Every Stage of Game Dev

Wed, Oct 7, 12:30 AM
From SF Game Development
4.7

SF Game Development is excited to be hosting an event during SF Tech Week with a hands-on session from Discord on building community around your game. Join us in person at DNA Lounge on Tuesday, October 6th from 5:30pm–9:00pm. Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn from an industry expert, who will take the stage at 7:00 pm. Whether you're a seasoned game developer, an aspiring artist, a student, or an indie creator, this event is designed for you. Come mingle with like-minded professionals and enthusiasts, and enjoy some pizza and bits sponsored by Discord. There's a full-service bar at the venue with all proceeds supporting the venue. Your participation helps us continue hosting fantastic events in their 3,000 sqft space. You'll also get a chance to demo indie games and meet the speaker involved with the event. **Building Your Discord Server Through Every Stage of Game Development** **Anthony Tešija — Senior Developer Advocate at Discord** The best game communities start long before launch day. Learn how to build a community and evolve it through your game's alpha, release, and beyond. We'll cover channels, roles, events, moderation, and how to bring players straight from your game into your community and keep them engaged. Anthony will walk through the four stages every game passes through — in development, alpha/beta, release, and post-release — and what your server should actually look like at each one: why starting minimal beats over-building, how forum channels turn scattered feedback into organized bug reports, how community invites can auto-assign your beta testers, and how Rich Presence and bots can bridge your game and your server to turn players into organic marketing. **See you all there!** Thank you everyone for RSVPing for our SF Game Development event with our fellow indie game developers. We can't wait to see everyone there. Make sure to arrive at 5:30pm for networking and game demos. You **MUST RSVP** on Meetup, Luma, or Eventbrite to secure your spot.
