17th Toronto Meetup – Why We Shelved Our No-Code QA Platform & Switched
Wed, Oct 28, 10:00 PM***17th Toronto Meetup – Why We Shelved Our No-Code QA Platform and Switched to Agentic Testing*** What makes a QA automation approach worth keeping and when is it time to rethink it? At The Test Tribe’s 17th Toronto Meetup, Anna Karnaukh will share the story of how Treegress built a no-code QA automation platform around finite-state machines, and why the team eventually decided to move toward agentic testing. The session goes beyond the AI hype to explore what actually changed when agents began taking on test planning, creation, and review — and what this means for developers and QA teams working in an AI-assisted software development lifecycle. ***Event Details*** * Date: 28 October 2026 * Time: 06:00 PM – 08:00 PM ET * Venue: To be announced ***Session – Why We Shelved Our No-Code QA Platform and Switched to Agentic Testing*** ***[Speaker: Anna Karnaukh, Founder & CEO of Treegress](https://www.linkedin.com/in/anna-karnaukh-pm)*** This session offers a firsthand look at the shift from no-code QA automation built on finite-state machines to agentic testing. Anna will share: * Why Treegress initially built a no-code QA automation platform. * What changed when agents took on test planning, creation, and review. * The engineering tradeoffs involved in moving from a structured no-code approach to agentic testing. * How testing can be structured within an AI-assisted software development lifecycle. * Practical lessons for developers and QA teams considering AI-powered testing. ***How This Meetup Solves Your Problem*** * Your existing automation approach isn't scaling as expected? Explore the decisions behind rethinking a no-code platform. * AI testing feels too abstract? Get a firsthand account of what changed when agents entered the testing workflow. * Unsure where agents fit into QA? See how they can participate across planning, creation, and review. * Considering an AI testing strategy? Learn from the tradeoffs, mistakes, and lessons behind a real product journey. ***Why Show Up on 28 October?*** * Because sometimes the best way to understand a new approach is to hear from someone who built the old one first. * Because agentic testing isn't simply about generating test scripts — it can change how testing work is planned and reviewed. * Because you'll hear the engineering tradeoffs behind a real shift from no-code automation to agents. * Because understanding what didn't work can be just as valuable as understanding what did. * Because the future of QA automation may require rethinking not just the tools we use, but how testing fits into software development itself. ***Become a Speaker at The Test Tribe Events*** Wish to share your insights with the community at a future event? Canada: Crisis
Sun, Oct 18, 6:00 PMThe Great Depression of the 1930s hit the Canadian economy especially hard, what with its dependence on unrefined exports. The Dust Bowl hit Saskatchewan farmers particularly hard. (High debt and low fish prices drove Newfoundland to bankruptcy, and its Dominion government was replaced by a Royal commission.) Conservative Prime Minister was a Hamlet figure much like his American counterpart Herbert Hoover: Hobo camps were nicknamed Hooverville in the USA, Bennettburg in Canada, and horse-drawn cars were "Hoover carriages" there, "Bennett buggies" here. Mackenzie King returned to power in 1935 with the slogan "King or Chaos, and his Liberals would govern Canada for over 50 of the next 63 years. But new forces were emerging. (The Liberal vote was actually down from 1930, but declined less than the Conservative vote.) Canadian socialists created the Co-Operative Commonwealth Federation in 1932, led by J.S. Woodsworth. The Social Credit movement elected "Bible Bill" Aberhart Alberta premier in 1935, and won 17 federal seats that year in the western provinces. The Union Nationale's Maurice Duplessis and Liberal Mitchell Hepburn harnessed populism and were elected premier of Quebec and Ontario respectively. And there were extremist movements: communist leader Tim Buck's speeches attracted huge audiences, Adrien Arcand's Blue Shirts promoted fascism, and the Canadian Deutscher Bund promoted Nazism among German-Canadians. When the United Kingdom entered World War I, the Dominions had followed automatically. But when London declared war on Germany in 1939, each Parliament had to vote on it. Canada approved almost unanimously. Over a million Canadians served in this war--almost a tenth of the population--with almost 42,000 dead. As in the previous war, the issue of conscription divided the nation: in a 1942 referendum the Anglophone majority approved while most Francophones dissented. (Only 13,000 reservists were ultimately sent overseas.) The Second World War transformed Canada again. Under Missions and Supply Minister C.D. Howe, Canada produced almost $10 billion worth of war materials. Like the U.S.A., Canada enjoyed huge economic growth without the infrastructure damage and civilian deaths in Europe and Asia. Over 800,000 women worked in the service and manufacturing sectors. Our discussion will touch on: The widespread anger over poverty. Political extremism and populism. Currents of anti-Semitism. Wartime mobilization. Key Canadian battles. Wartime mass internment of B.C. Japanese-Canadians. The conscription crisis. A weekly discussion on a history topic. We'll meet at Yorkville Village food court, at the round table near the west entrance.

NEW EVENT - 👻🌙 The Ghosts of Cabbagetown
Tue, Oct 27, 10:30 PM# 👻🌙 The Ghosts of Cabbagetown ### A 90-Minute Evening Ghost Walk Through One of Toronto’s Most Historic Neighbourhoods Cabbagetown has beautiful Victorian houses, quiet streets, old cemeteries, and a history that goes back generations. It also has ghosts. Join me for a **90-minute evening walking tour through Cabbagetown**, where we'll explore some of the neighbourhood's strangest stories, unsettling legends, and darker pieces of Toronto's past. We'll begin beneath the glass of **Allan Gardens**, then make our way through the streets of Cabbagetown, stopping along the way for stories of mysterious creatures, haunted buildings, old prisons, cemeteries, restless spirits, and the people who may never have quite left. This isn't a traditional history walk. It's a **ghost tour** — so expect some history, some local legends, a little mystery, and a few stories that are difficult to explain. And, of course, we'll have a few laughs along the way. 📱 Don't forget to join our **WhatsApp Group – [CLICK HERE](https://chat.whatsapp.com/H59mSCbsAi018gYANrKAnc)** *** ## 👻 What We'll Explore Our route will take us through some of Cabbagetown's most atmospheric locations, including: 🌿 **Allan Gardens** — ghosts beneath the glass 🐾 **Winchester Square Park** — the strange story of Cabbagetown's Tunnel Monster 🍸 **The Winchester Hotel** — spirits that may have never checked out 🏚️ **Winchester Street** — haunted houses and Victorian secrets ⛓️ **The Don Jail & Bridgepoint** — where the walls remember everything 🐄 **Riverdale Farm** — and its strange connection to the old Don Jail ⚰️ **The Toronto Necropolis** — a city of the dead beneath a city of the living 🕯️ **St. James Town & St. James' Cemetery** — where the living and the dead share the same neighbourhood And much, much more... *** ## 🌙 What Makes This Tour Different? This is a **new ghost walk for the group**, created specifically around Cabbagetown. Rather than simply walking from one location to another, the route has been **curated around the stories** so that each stop connects to the next. We'll move through the neighbourhood at a comfortable pace, stopping along the way while I share the stories behind the places we're visiting. Some stories are historical. Some are local legends. Some are downright strange. You'll have to decide for yourself which ones you believe. 👻 *** ## 🕯️ A Little About the Tour This is a **90-minute evening walk**. We will be walking outdoors throughout the tour and will **not be entering buildings**. Some locations may be viewed from outside or from nearby public spaces. Please be respectful of residents, private property, and cemetery grounds as we make our way through the neighbourhood. *** ## 📍 Meetup Details 🕚 **Meeting Time:** 6:30 PM I will only wait **5 minutes** before we begin. 🫎 **Meeting Location:** Outside the **Palm House at Allan Gardens (this BIG WHITE building)** Look for me in my **Moose Hat!** 🏁 **End Point:** Parliament Street & Wellesley Street East 🚶 **Walking Time:** Approximately 90 minutes 👻 **Pace:** Comfortable, steady walking pace *** ## 🎟️ Meetup Fee **$10 cash or e-transfer** 📧 **[mathewmaclean@hotmail.com](mailto:mathewmaclean@hotmail.com)** The $10 fee helps support the group and covers the **extra research, preparation, and curation that goes into creating these ghost walks**. These aren't simply walks where we meet up and wander around. I've put together a specific route, researched the stories, and created a series of stops designed to turn the walk into an actual **storytelling experience**. You're paying for the experience — not just the walking. *** ## 🎒 What to Bring 👟 Comfortable walking shoes 🧥 Weather-appropriate clothing 💧 Water 🔦 A little extra light if you have it 👻 An open mind And maybe don't wander off by yourself. You never know who's walking behind you. *** ## ⚠️ A Quick Note Sometimes things happen and I may need to cancel or change an event. Please keep an eye on the event page for updates. You can RSVP ahead of time — or **just show up on the day if you're not sure about your schedule.** *** ## 🌈 Who Is This For? This walk is for anyone who enjoys: 👻 Ghost stories and local legends 🏙️ Toronto history 🚶 Social walking 📸 Exploring different neighbourhoods 🕯️ Strange and unusual stories 😂 A good story without taking ourselves too seriously You don't have to be a believer. You don't even have to be scared. Just come for the walk and see what you think. ### **Organizer:** Mathew 📧 **[torontomoviesandoutings@hotmail.com](mailto:torontomoviesandoutings@hotmail.com)** ### **👋 Come for the stories.** ### **🚶 Stay for the walk.** ### **👻 And keep an eye out for who might be walking with us.**
